Durell Montgomery is a self identified cowboy from Detroit, Michigan. His dream is to start a therapeutic riding center within the city limits. Every weekend, with the help of his son (pictured here) he brings his horses into the neighborhood where he grew up to give people rides - many of whom have never seen a live horse before.
Amidst the gentrification and ruins of downtown Detroit a self styled urban cowboy named Durrel Montgomery rides his horse down the middle of Michigan Avenue. 'They say what's good for the outside of a horse is good for the inside of man' Durrel tells us. Durrel believes that working with horses kept him out of trouble and taught him important values. Values that he dreams of passing on to the next generation of Detroit youth by starting a riding center in the city. In this short film we meet Durrel, see him riding through the city and taking care of his horse at his ranch with his son, and sitting down for a drink by his fire at the end of his day.
